Living and Loving in the Manner of Jesus

Our Episcopal Book of Common Prayer reminds us that the mission of the Church is to reconcile all persons to God and to each other in Christ Jesus.  Clearly, there is a good deal of work that must be done.  We believe that we are called to that work – both individually and collectively.

There are three prongs to this work:

• We must engage in regular individual and common prayer and worship
• We must proclaim the good news of God’s love by our words and by our lives;
• We must promote justice, peace, and love within the actual realities of our world. 

It is not so easy to take on those tasks and do them well.  We must continually examine and re-assess our individual and our common lives.  We also know that these responsibilities are inseparable one from the other.  If we pray and worship well, we will also proclaim the gospel boldly.  If we proclaim the gospel boldly, we will commit ourselves to the work of justice, peace, and reconciliation. And we can only move forward in any work if we remain faithful in prayer and in worship.
